If there are some places unknown by travelers, Taiwan may be one of them.
It is a small island of 36 000 km2, a third of Iceland area, located at 180 km on the east of China.
On a geopolitical aspect, you may say it is part of China or even say it is China. Or, on the opposite, state it is independent of China. It is up to you.
On a nature aspect, it is a mountain in the middle of the island, surrounded by desert sea shores, gigantic roads, military presence, street art, temples, buildings from the past…
One always present feeling is this island looks abandoned or stuck in the past.
In others places, it’s vibrant street art taking advantages on buildings and streets. Youth is dynamic, students are brilliant, brightening their future.
On a personal aspect, it has been a wonderful discovery.
Walking alone on kilometers of dark sand while facing the Pacific Ocean is a memory I cherish.
